Well, Stephenie Meyer has got along it once more.I loved this novel only as much as the first trio.Let’s face it, most of her books are pretty predictable; yet, she owns a gift of pulling in the predictable happen in unexpected ways. This is precisely what happens in Breaking Dawn. All I can say is, well done Stephenie.Like her other novels, this took me less than 24 hours to mug up. My overriding thought when I was reading Breaking Dawn was that it was a good thing this wasn’t the first book because I wonder how many people would have hooked onto the series after reading this mess of a tale. The beginning subdivision was real difficult for me to watch. The transitions from single scenery to another to a flashback weren’t clearly denoted and half the time I hadn’t recognized that I was switching times and prospects until a quarter or half the way down. For instance, in the first “chapter” Bella is in the present talking to her acquaintance. And so she is thinking about telling Charlie about getting married which happened sometime in the past and this immediately segues into Bella telling her mother sometime after telling Charlie but sometime before the present time. The biggest critique I receive is one that many have noted before, I am annoyed by the amount of whining and seemingly ungrateful attitude Bella has most of the time but I have realized this is just her personality. In the 4th book the whining does get less frequent about half way through the novel.
So to accumulate all my ideas, I actually loved the script. I like the elements of surprise. I love how Meyer makes the predictable happen in unexpected ways. I like how she linked up all the loose ends up and named it a happily ever after but still passed on the story line clear to new adventures with young parts. I love that Jacob is finally happy, even if his imprinting was a bit unusual. The winds were great and made the book a page turner. Are there things I reckon she could have performed better, well sure, but that comes with any volume. Overall, she did a swell job and I am sorry to witness the saga end. At present I am anticipating Midnight Sun. There won’t be anything new because we all know what goes on, but it will be interesting to study it through Edward’s eyes. Anyway, happy reading for those who have yet to gratify in the last volume of this saga.
