The Battle of the Labyrinth was my favorite in the series so far. I like the mythos in this book. I’ve always enjoyed mythos and I particularly enjoy the twist Riordan has with his contemporary myths. If I were teaching twelve year old kids about Greek mythos I would use these as a tool. They are fast-paced, I personally can read them in the period it would take me to watch any movie version, and that’s impeccable for kids wanting amusing info about the Greek mythoi. Discoursing about wit I’ve always found that the hilarious jests or wisecracks are those which holds truth or reflect on truth. In numerous ways the tale is very humorous and quite clever.
This book has plenty of entertainment with a plot ride bringing out a quest into the labyrinth of Daedalus, a meeting with Hephaestus, Leviathans, behemoths and mortals. The narrative also leads the series closer to the concluding climactic clash between the good and evil. I do mug up some fascinating ideas in the series. I feel this book of all of them discloses the overall notions of the series paramount. In one book the gods want to kill Percy and in another they want to honor him as kinfolk.
This series and especially this book, has the clue of how everything in harmony changes and yet at one go stays the same. It is the notion that ancient rise up again in new forms. It is also the notion that people change with time. We see the change in our hero Percy Jackson. We see the change in secondary characters and in desperados. And yet in unison they are the same characters we begun with.
Change is such an interesting topic to me. Simultaneously it is one several people both like to dwell on and want to overlook. There are some changes which are obstinate, which we want to dissent against. Nobody wants to grow old or to experience the absolute change from life to death. Not a single person wants to experience a change which causes us to lose pals or relations. And yet I still embrace this notion that there actually is nothing fresh and new but relatively all changes now are effects which come up from the old. I think this series discourses that notion brilliantly.
I recommend this to everyone who is looking for a fun read. You will surely enjoy this book.
